Dedications to Hilda Davies
Our 'Miss Davies' was dearly loved and respected by all those whose lives she touched. An inspirational teacher, innovative and creative, she had that unique quality of being able to impart her expertise and enthusiasm to all that she taught. She was all of those things, but best of all she was my friend. Iris |
I started dancing with Renee Cross when I was 5 years old. I later went back to Adult Tap Class with Hilda when my daughter (Miss Penny) was 8 months old, and Penny herself went to Hilda's when she was 3 years old. Mrs Gration, Vanessa's Grandma played piano at Renee's and Hilda's for me. I now work for Vanessa on reception and Penny is part of Vanessa's teaching team. So we both have very fond memories of Hilda and the time we both spent with her. A lady very much missed and in our thoughts today. Jane Bryant |
An inspirational teacher and choreographer who made all her pupils feel special, always a lady and my second mum. Remember tap on boxes, Mama and Les Mis. Maxine |

| Hilda Davies a dear friend sadly missed, a true perfecionist with traditional values, high expectations. A devoted teacher with a true passion for dance. As a newcomer to the town of Belper in 1967, I was recommended to the Hilda Davies Dancing School. How privileged my daughters were to have 17 memorable years of being involved in the formidable team of Miss Davies and Mrs Gration. Miss Davies' love of dance inspired us as a family to continue to enjoy performances both in Belper and beyond. Margaret Gummerson |
Mentor to so many, friend to so many more. A lady blessed with patience, humour, enthusiasm and great talent, which she shared with everyone. Hilda had a great partnership with her friend and pianist Mary Gration, who never failed to offer her opinions. With her expertise in playing the piano beautifully, what a great team they were! Mary was the Grandmother of Miss Vanessa. I know both Mrs G and Miss Davies would be delighted with Vanessa's achievements. Hilda Davies was one in a million and will be remembered with love and affection by all that were lucky enough to be a part of her life. For myself I miss her dearly, but thank her for everything she did for me. Karen Davies |
